This afternoon, we flew from UK to Sweden, from Stanstead to Arlanda airport.
Our trip from Hugo’s house in south London to Stansted was a long one, requiring us to get across London to St Pancras Station, but at least we had plenty of time. The flight was late in the day, and as we were allowed only a small rucksack each on the budget airline, walking was easy. We had arranged to stop by at Emma’s fathers house for lunch on the way, so decided to use the red London double-decker buses rather than rail to get across to Maida Vale in the inner west of the city.
The day was typically wet and drizzly, and we couldn’t see much from the misted bus windows, but it was fun jumping on and off the buses across town.
Our first change was at Brixton, right where the “Electric Avenue” (that was made famous by Eddy Grant back in the 1980’s) rocks down to the main road.
Back on another wet bus, so when we approached Westminster, we were too excited to stay on board, so walked in the rain from South Bank, across the Westminster Bridge past Big Ben to catch the next bus from the back of Westminster Abbey.
Somehow, we ended up on a bus that took us a little out of the way, and it was too late to backtrack and get the correct bus, so we walked from Hyde Park to lunch with Emma’s dad. Luckily he had a clothes drier, because we were wet right through by the time we arrived. After lunch, it was onto trains to Stansted, and then plane to Sweden
