The last flight around Europe before heading off on trains was the Lauder A320 from Krakow to Vienna.
The approach from the south brought us down over Bratislava and into Hungary before turning towards the airport. The plains to the south of Vienna are covered in forests of wind farms. Prominent signs throughout the city promote the shift to renewable energy. When we left Vienna by train on our way to Budapest, the train passed these windmills, together with huge arrays of solar panels, as it crossed these plains at 160km/hr being towed by an OBB locomotive which is claimed to be powered by 100% renewable electricity.
