From the castle yesterday, we had the view to the south to the next hill over and could see the structure on top. Investigations show this hill to be the Citadella, and while it is referenced for being and excellent night time view of the lights of Budapest, we were too tired to make it up there after dark last night.
So this morning’s expedition is to climb to the Citadella. What our investigations did not tell us was that it is currently being renovated. Everything on top is fenced off, and not accessible. We walked the paths around the edge of the Citadella and looked through the fence where possible. The views are spectacular, and we were treated to a the sight of a heavily loaded barge moving downstream through the city, past all the beautiful bridges, on a beautifully warm day, with temperatures reaching into the high teens.
