We travelled up Hinchinbrook Channel on our first trip north in 2016, and have been going around the outside of Hinchinbrook Island every other time as Zoe Bay on the eastern side of the island is such an enticing destination. But with strong SE breeze on the forecast and rain hanging over the Cassowary Coast from Hinchinbrook to Cairns, decided to travel the Channel again this trip.
Approaching the southern end of the channel at Lucinda with its extra long sugar jetty, we had a low tide, and so had to navigate carefully around the docks on the shore, but managed to sail almost up to our anchorage at Haycock Island.
