The Tampagaram Beach marina provided safe haven while we completed tasks in Sorong, but it is a considerable distance north of the main business district of this large regional city.

We travelled from Tampa Garam down to Sorong by various means; hiring a car and driver, hailing one of the multi use taxi minivans, or flagging down a scooter for a ride. Depending on the traffic, it could take 20 minutes for this journey. The harbour has some docks for large shipping, with a large container terminal and an oil terminal, and has a wharf for the fishing fleet to tie up to.
