One of our most unpleasant repairs is the replacement of the macerator pump under one of our toilet’s holding tank. Additionally, many of the sewer lines were blocked with calcification, which required a complete removal of the entire system.
The worst of it was the removal of the diverter y-vavle. When building the boat, I fitted that using three M4 machine bolts and nylock nuts. With the hoses all fused on to their fittings after four years of use, the job of removing the those three nylocks took literally hours, laying on the floor with one hand up inside that inspection port and another hand reaching under the toilet to hold a spanner while another hand unscrewed the machine bolt on the outside. There’s ok only room for one person, and that requires laying upsidedown and twisted sideways.
To avoid the problem again, I have fabricated nuts onto the mounting ring of the valve. This was fabricated by making a ring that mated with valve, and incorporating nuts into the ring. The ring was then welded onto the valve.
