After a month in the lagoon on Wayag, it is now time for us to start heading south again. There has been only moments of wind during our time in Raja Ampat, and today was no different. Intending to anchor inside the reef at the abandoned homestay at Way Tuna, we motored all day, as there was no wind.
At times the “pass through” currents running from the Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean was carrying us 30เฅฐ off course, and then later boosting our speed by two knots. These photos were grabbed as we passed the equator on our way south.
Unfortunately, we could not get the anchor to hold in the coral rubble at Way Tuna. Dropping it in 5m depth and paying out 50m of chain, we still dragged the anchor when trying to tie back onto the shore with a stern line, so had to continue on to another anchorage for the night.
