Stolperstein or stumbling stones are little plaques in cobblestone streets, and are now found all over Europe. They commemorate the last place of residence for someone that was persecuted by the nazis during World War II. The photos here show a typical example of one, and then a typically irreverent Amsterdam variation on the theme.
