We moved around from Port Clinton to Island Head Creek, and anchored amongst the group of other yachts sheltering there. This is the first time that we have experienced sundowners on the beach in an anchorage. Looking back, this was also a pattern at Great Keppel, but we were ignorant of the ritual, and did not invite ourselves to the party. Now we know better.
With a long window of strong trade winds on the forecast, we were going to stay here for some time.
When the winds eventually dropped, we travelled together as a group with the other boats that were here, all the away through to the Whitsundays, stopping along the way at Supply Bay on Cape Townsend, Marble and Duke Islands in the Duke group of Islands, then Digby Island before the first of the Whitsunday group.
PS from 2025 – This beach gathering turned out to be a significant moment in the history of our cruising on SeeBeeZee, meeting several couples that we have remained in close contact with ever since.
