After our anchorage in an un-named creek along the Hinchinbrook Channel, we took the tide north in calm conditions. We managed to sail all day in light winds, and sailed right up into the anchorage.
We anchored off the old resort, which was destroyed in a cyclone and left abandoned. Dunk Island is a beautiful tropical paradise, and is covered in heavy rainforest jungle. There was once a radar station on the top of the mountain during WW2, and the track up still remains as a walking trail.
While here, we swam and walked the tracks, and enjoyed sundowners on the beach with other yachties.
