One of the highlights of visiting Waisai to re-provision SeeBeeZee was our opportunity to try the local foods at the cafes and stalls along the road.
The RM S’Kumbang Timur is a nicely presented cafe with very friendly and helpful staff, who recommended our plates last night. We enjoyed them so much that we postponed our departure for an extra couple of hours so that we could fit in a repeat meal at lunchtime today.
For the sum of 250,000Rp (about $2.50 AUD) we had a Nasi Ikan Tuna Bakar each. This literally translates into “rice fish tuna burnt”, which does kind of accurately describes the scoops of rice doused in two different spicy sauces, accompanied by friend greens and sambals, served with chunks of marinated boneless tuna that had been seared over wood coals.
This meal will remain one of the highlights in our memory of our trip to Indonesia.
