Misool

After a few days at Harfat in the northern chain of Misool islands, the limited time left on our visas has forced us to keep heading south.

The northerly monsoons seem to be steered away by the high mountains on the islands of eastern Indonesia. Forecasts show a deep wind shadow to the south of Papau, Misool and Seram, and so we decide to simply motor down to the southern chain in order to get a better start on getting south to Banda.

With no wind, we motored slowly to make the best advantage of the fast flowing southerly current, and finding no suitable anchorage en route, we ended up at the “Love Lagoon” anchorage we had at Pulau Wayilbatan back in October on our way north.

After a few days snorkelling and exploring there again, we headed south into the Seram Sea for an overnight sail to Seram, before another overnight sail to Banda.
