All of the networked electronic navigation equipment on SeeBeeZee is Navico, branded as B&G or Simrad. Our VHF radio is a V50 which has an H50 remote handset connected over Bluetooth. This H50 handset is what we rely on at the helm, but over the last ten years, the battery capacity of the handset has been dwindling, and the rubber Push-To-Talk button (PTT) on the side of the set has disintegrated.
I took the opportunity while recently in Darwin to buy a replacement battery by mail order, and used our 3D-printer to make a replacement PTT button cover out of TPU polyurethane filament. Unfortunately, the only TPU I have on board is yellow. The yellow PTT button may look out of place, but the handset is as good as new again now. The design to make the PTT button in the OpenSCAD software was not simple, and required many prototypes before it was perfected (examples laying beside the handset in the top photo).
