After sitting out the storms of the buildup, hiding at Governor Islands waiting for the right weather, we made it back to Darwin after one big hop from Sir Graham Moore Island back to Boyne Harbour.
Once the weather forecasts were lining up, we moved from Governors around to the east bay on Graham Moore the night before departure, so that we could make the most of the ebb tide with the big jump the following day. That tide gave us a fast start, and once clear of Cape Londonderry by mid afternoon, we had the best spinnaker run through till last light when our asymmetry kite decided its life was over and split from top to bottom as we were furling it for the night. After two quiet nights at sea, we realised that reaching Darwin before dark was unachievable before bed time on the third, we headed in to the coast, stopping at Masson Point on the recommendation of Kiera who had been here before.
And today we used the morning ebb tide to flush us back out Boyne Harbour, and the afternoon flood to carry us at speed in to Darwin where we anchored off the mouth of Sadgroves Creek, across the channel from the Stokes Point wharf.
