On arrival back to Darwin, our future plans were very fluid. We had decided we would like to keep SeeBeeZee in Darwin over the cyclone season and return to the Kimberley again for the 2026 trip. To that purpose, we had sought to rent a berth in one of the locked marinas or even a hard stand in a yard, using our satellite internet to make wifi phone calls while still out in WA, but not been provided with any opportunity.
On rechecking with the Bayview Marina, a suitable berth was available, and so we moved SeeBeeZee in through the lock in early November 2025.
We started preparing SeeBeeZee to stand idle for some time, and were still living on board in the marina when on November 22, Cyclone Fina made an arrival in Darwin, well before the cyclone season should begin. We survived unscathed despite much damage having been inflicted on the boats moored and anchored out in the relative safety of Sadgroves Creek. We flew south to Brisbane, from where we had family time, together and separated, with our children and parents that were scattered across SE Qld and NE NSW.
While I had most of February on board, completing jobs in preparation for this years cruise, I returned to Brisbane a second time, and yesterday we flew back to Darwin together to get ready for another season out in the Kimberley.
