This is day 3 of our passage to Indonesia, but several days have passed since we came through Gugari Rip. It’s already a week since we left Nhulunbuy and Gove.
Birgit had an infected ear lobe, and after a similar infection became very serious last year, we thought it best to halt our journey until that healed. After lunch today, we set off again, and had a short sail north under the lee of the Wessel Islands to test her out. It was only a short 20 nautical mile hop in light 10-15 knot breeze on flat water, but it was all good, and we’ll do the same again tomorrow, and then head off across the big jump to Indonesia the following morning.
In a way, this delay has been good, as the waxing moon is now providing good night vision, which will only improve over the next few days as the full moon is just a week away now.
