We’re anchored in the deep bay at Uf, on the bottom end of Kai Kecil, and the days have been rolling by as we wait for weather suitable for the journey across the Arafura Sea to Darwin.
And the days rolled by to my birthday. We are here with three other yachts that we have been travelling together with for some time, and a number of birthdays have been shared over this time.
With no warning, everyone turned up on SeeBeeZee late morning; both the other yachts and the family that live on the shore nearby to where we are anchored. They brought with them a large fish that had been cooked over a wood fire on the beach, and presented on a banana leaf coated tray made of woven palm fronds together with palm baskets of mixed rice. And cakes and biscuits and much good cheer.
We all had such a good time sharing food and stories.
