Our third stop up the Berkeley River was at Casuarina Creek. Casuarina Creek runs off to the north from the main body of the river, and a bit over a mile up from the junction, the creek ends with a waterfall cascading over the cliffs into a deep pool at the base.
At the last corner before the waterfall we moored the dinghy and ascended a pile of scree to the plateau on top. From there, we followed the track to the pools at the top of the falls, and another kilometre upstream, where we found some art of the overhanging cliffs. After a cooling swim in a rock pool above the falls, we backtracked to the dinghy as the sun was setting.
The next morning we returned to the falls, and with the tide high, were able to climb onto a ledge at the bottom of the falls. There we were able to stand under the thundering torrent and fill our water drums.
