At Lacrosse Island in the mouth of the Ord River, we caught up with yacht Keira, our buddies from Indonesia. We left Lacrosse with the start of the ebb tide at first light on August 6. With light SE breeze, we were heading for Reveley Island in the mouth of the Berkeley River, about 40 miles along the coast.
Reveley Island can be accessed from the sea at low tide, and with a shallow sand bar between here and the entrance to the river, we anchored inside the island and made survey of the bar. With tides of over 4.6m, the depths were not really a problem, but allowed us an opportunity to walk along the sandy beaches and headlands of Reveley, where a crocodile next to our anchorage kept us wary about getting in and out of the dinghy.
