With access to water, and a clean sloping slab of concrete, this was an ideal place to wash our carpet

    Which outboard did you replace.

Our starboard outboard started life back in the 1980’s as a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust. I bought it in 2013 with a blown power head, and repaired it by replacing the motor with a new Parsun 15. I made the mistake of replacing other parts, like the mounting bracket, with the lower grade Chinese parts. With the gearbox full of water and with a crack in the housing, I removed the motor from the boat, but the mounting bracket was too corroded to allow the screws to be turned. I was lucky to find another Yamaha FT9.9 that was in pretty good condition and available for a good price. Even more lucky was I to make friends with a local who made their well equipped workshop available to me.
